I came to Somesh Valentino Curti with a bit of a sceptical mind, I had never really thought of myself as someone that ‘needed therapy’. My relationship had been difficult, I had sustained a leg injury and was on crutches, and was still relatively new to Amsterdam, so I had searched for a therapist that could chat about some of the Expat issues as well as the more complicated issues, and that’s how I ended up with him.
I vividly remember leaving after my first session feeling lighter, even just talking for an hour had convinced me that I wanted to pursue the 8 course path. There was a calmness that fell over me from exploring some topics of repressed emotion, but equally a curiosity had awoken. It never felt so much about fixing anything, as much as it was about exploring and understanding connections between how I behave and feel and what emotions lie beneath, that might trigger that. And that has been invaluable to me.
The techniques, skills that I took away from our sessions were easy and applicable in my daily life, and they helped a lot. He’s very intuitive and easy to speak to, yet doesn’t prod or poke, the conversations feel very organic and they ebb and flow.
I highly recommend Somesh, especially as someone that was sceptical at first. He truly helped me make sense of a hard time, and helped me feel empowered and equipped to deal with tough situations, but mostly helped me see and connect the dots that lie within me.
